First Look: Kurt Geiger A/W 2014 Collection

Evoking the power of scarlet, print, texture and silhouettes, shoes are designed for the Kurt Geiger girl's taste in British traditions and the magic of fashion.Laced sandals and slippers with stars, stones and sparkle reflect the glittering water of the Grand Canal whilst an increase in brown, tan and earthy tones, cuddly shearling and suede protect you in the great English outdoors.

New Chelsea boots, Derbies and Go-Go boots ensure that the flat ankle boot and over the knee styles continue to be all the rage.
Flats get the fantasy treatment too with stilettos, slippers and skaters in touchy feely velvet with brooches and bows.
Crimson sets a darker mood for accessories with saffiano leather bags crafted in classic shapes in shades of scarlet, oxblood and hot pink; as well as a rich wine python print. This season the ‘London’ saffiano bag is introduced with a limited edition hand painted Venetian lace print, echoing the Kurt Geiger London lace shoes.
Exclusively for the Middle East the Carvela collection will offer an edited series of styles with rhinestones, shine and sparkle.Fairytale courts with encrusted bows, mules that shimmer and block heel sandals boasting an intricate lattice upper; this season's shoes reflect in both silver and gold with accents of black and nude.

Save The Date

Ayyam Gallery London is pleased to announce Improbable Possibilities, a forthcoming solo show of British-Iraqi artist Athier.Applying theoretical physics as part of its conceptual basis, the exhibition will feature a recent series of paintings that offer visual interpretations of parallel dimensions and their access points, while exploring the notion of absolutes and the potential of imagined realities.

Initially inspired by readings in string theory, Athier has created three distinct but related bodies of work, dividing his aesthetic investigation into a succession of visualised phenomena: Push and Pull, The Cut and Eternal Balance.Collectively, the artist's new paintings present a point of departure for a broader envisioning of solutions for the present and futuristic passageways to the unknown.

The painterly journey through space-time begins with canvases dominated by dynamic architectural elements and fluid tubular forms. These intersecting facets are bookended by entry and exit points: wormholes that the artist describes as, ‘an attempt to imagine the unimaginable as pure energy moving from one space through to another.’ In each painting, overlapping planes support a suspended transfer of energy, as the composition becomes the site of unconstrained forces.

Date         : 18 September - 21 October, 2014

Timings    : 18 September (6PM - 9PM)

Venue       :

Shout Out Of The Day: Designer-24 Launches In Dubai

Women of the region have a huge demand of dresses – cocktail dresses and evening dresses, which sometimes can only be worn once or twice.Even the most affluent customers have realized that this can become a very expensive undertaking! And so, Designer-24 was born. With the prevalence of social media in today's society, and the slew of magazines with society pages, once a dress is worn, it is literally everywhere, presenting the dilemma of not being seen in the same outfit twice.

Designer-24 provides women a stellar wardrobe of new season dresses straight from the runway, adding the latest designs to the collection every season. To ensure the best, the founders spent almost a year meeting and pitching the innovative idea of designer dress hire to designers from across the globe. The collections include high-end contemporary designers as well as some of the most famous names in evening wear and couture. These names include international names like Marchesa Couture, Antonio Berardi, Naeem Khan, Herve Leroux and Halston as well as some regional designers like Ayesha Depala and Rani Zakhem.

With the UAE being very events driven and a haven for fashion in the Middle East, the UAE was the perfect choice to launch the concept.Society is very style and brand conscious and Designer-24 affords women the ability to wear something new for every occasion. The intent was to modernize and revolutionize women's shopping patterns in the region and educate women on the different styles and new season trends - to promote a new way of shopping.

Designer-24 is a great way to try new designers and get a feel for a brand. The concept also serves to expose designers to potential new clients who may not otherwise have considered buying their gowns.Clothing hire is somewhat of an alien concept in the region, but with Designer-24 and its approach to offering the correct product with a personalized service including door to door delivery, the concept is set to create a fashion revolution!

Queen Of Spades

Bring out your maracas as Queen of Spades goes all Latin with it's latest Mexican-inspired collection. The vivacious collection was unveiled at the La Fiesta Grande, a private pre-Eid preview, held at the Galeries Lafayette, The Dubai Mall. The fashionable evening unfolded over a sit-down dinner, designed and styled by Lafayette Gourmet to present an epicurean experience fit for the Mexican bonhomie that designer Lamya Abedin presented.

Abedin's exotic Latin designs once again celebrate folk art and traditions and represent it in an urban, modern style - the very elements that make up the core of the Queen of Spades brand. The newest creations keenly emphasise indigenous crafts and pre-Columbian art that has thrived over a wide timescale, from 1800 BC to AD 1500.Abedin has particularly drawn from certain artistic characteristics that were widely prevalent in the Latin-Spanish belt through the years, like a preference for angular, linear patterns, and three dimensional ceramics. These patterns and notable handicrafts seen on clay pottery from the valley of Oaxaca and the village of Tonala have found manifestation in her latest assortment of ensembles.

The look of the collection manifests a strong inspiration from the works of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, who has achieved great international popularity.Kahlo painted using vibrant colours in a style that was influenced by indigenous cultures of Mexico interspersed with European influences of Realism, Symbolism, and Surrealism.

In Abedin's collection you will find these influences through visual hits of colourful embroidery, textured textiles, authentic local weaves and a flurry of lush fabrics like jute, cotton, organza, raw silks, satins, chiffons, tulle and lace, sourced all the way from Guatemala, Mexico, Spain, India, Indonesia, Korea, Japan and many other destinations.
For this collection Abedin chose hues of Latino spices, handicrafts and local bazaars like yolk yellow, deep purple, apricot, terracotta, tangerine, dark slate and the like, making this one of her most effervescent collections by Queen of Spades.

Available exclusively at Valleydez.
